Tim Brittain – Pastor


Dr. Tim Brittain has been the pastor at Hudson UMC since June, 1999. He is an ordained elder in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. He graduated cum laude from Gardner-Webb University (North Carolina), earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion. He received his Master of Divinity Degree from Asbury Theological Seminary (Kentucky). His Doctor of Theology Degree is from Triune Seminary (Washington). His two books are The United Methodists: What We Believe and Why; and Thy Kingdom Come: A Study of the Book of Revelation. He has also written articles for The Upper Room Daily Devotional Guide, The North Carolina Christian Advocate, and various newspapers. Tim loves watching college basketball, playing the guitar at the contemporary worship service, and being grandfather to two wonderful grandsons.  



Becky Brittain – Director of Music Ministry


Becky graduated from Asbury College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work and a minor in Psychology. She received her Master of Science degree from Troy State University in Counseling and did post-graduate work at Purdue University. She is a National Certified Counselor. She was the editor of Miracle in the Snow, the autobiography of Rev. Adam Kuczma, former superintendent of the Methodist Church in Poland during the Communist regime. Prior to beginning her current position in January, 2011, Becky was the Director of Young Adults and Children at HUMC for almost 11 years.

     Growing up classically trained in piano, she loves both traditional and contemporary music. She believes in bringing glory and honor to God through excellence in music and by encouraging authentic, Spirit-led worship. 


Laura Steffy – Custodian


Laura was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. At the age of 4 or 5, she moved with her parents to California. She graduated from Oceanside High School in San Diego County in 1990. In 1998, she moved back to Winston-Salem, then came to Caldwell County in 2004. Laura married Sam Steffey in 2005. Their children are: Steven, Alyssa, Nikole, and Dylan. She joined HUMC by profession of faith in Christ on September 20, 2009. In August of 2010, she came on church staff as our custodian


Marlys Kiser-Childrens Ministry

Marlys Kiser graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies with a minor in Philosophy from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2012. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Counseling degree from LRU. Before coming to Hudson United Methodist as the Director of Children’s Ministries, Marlys completed internships at St. Aloysius Catholic Church and St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Hickory, NC. Marlys currently resides in Hickory, NC where she is an active member in the community as a substitute teacher.
